2012 Overview of NOMAR Services and 2012 Dues Breakdown

Only $149 of your dues dollars stays with NOMAR. $155 goes to LR (State Association), $120 goes to NAR (National Association) (Click here for an explanation of NAR’s dues), $35 goes to NAR for REALTOR® Public Relations promoting the use of a REALTOR® on TV and radio advertisement. The remainder of the dues invoice is the contributions for MARPAC and Friends of LA Real Estate. These contributions will allow us to continue to fight for issues and legislation supporting our industry and private property rights, as well as opposing adverse legislation which harms our industry. It also allows us to support candidates who support our industry. Your contribution is like an insurance payment. With the critical issues jeopardizing the housing industry, you can’t afford NOT to contribute to MARPAC.

Examples of your PAC dollars at work:

  • Last year NOMAR worked closely with LR and NAR to pass legislation that bans any new transfer taxes in Louisiana. Your contributions to MARPAC assisted in this huge endeavor.
  • This year NOMAR initiated an effort, working closely with our elected officials and with NAR, to grandfather communities who have been eligible for rural housing programs and to increase the population limitations for these communities. Due to the 2010 census, many communities are losing eligibility for rural housing programs because their populations have grown. Congress set the definition of "rural" in 1974, and it has not been updated. As part of the Farm Bill (S.3240), the U.S. Senate passed an amendment that will grandfather communities through the next census and increase the population threshold for those communities to 35,000. The House is expected to mark-up their version of the Farm bill this summer.
